Summary
All members of the Royal Naval Surgical Support Teams are theoretically liable to have to serve on the northern nank of NATO, and a number of places are allocated to the SST each year on the Arctic Survival Training (AST) course in Norway. This is a personal account of my participation in AST with the Commando Logistic Regiment of the Royal Marines at Gardermoen in Norway in February 1985.
